Spring is in the air. (At least that’s what I keep telling myself!)

If your green thumb is itching, here’s some events to get you going… or growing?

Spade to Spoon / March 29, 2014 / 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. / 601 Keefer Street
- This garden-to-table event in the Strathcona neighbourhood benefits the “Vertical Teaching Garden” project for local school kids. Learn to make your own self-watering container garden, grow microgreens, mushrooms and start composting. Demos and discussions run throughout the day. Also find several local vendors on site.

Seed sharing events
- If you belong to a seed-sharing collective or hope to join one, watch for the group’s first meeting of the season soon. Seedy Tuesday took place in Chilliwack last week, but there are groups in most communities.

Farm school
- SPEC’s Urban Farmer Field School is underway with new courses starting most weeks until fall. Learn urban foraging, canning for beginners, beekeeping or garden design, among many, many other topics. Also check out the Richmond Farm School.
